Today was probably the hardest day we’ve faced as a family, yet it was also full of joy. Our son, Sebastian Alexander Sigmund Wagner was born silently at 1:12pm. 9 pounds, 9.6 ounces, 21″ long with a 15″ head! We were blessed to have many guests, including pastoral care from our circuit and two professional photographers to help us capture and remember every detail of this sweet gift. I had some pretty wild blood pressure swings but amazingly kind and compassionate care givers every step of the way. Tonight will be difficult as I’m exhausted, but this is my one and only night to spend with Sebastian… and I’m pretty sure he’s going to win. I plan to go home tomorrow.
Thank you all for your prayers and love to help us through this day.
Because I know people are curious, it is believed that his death was caused by a cord accident. It was wrapped tightly around his neck and developed a blood clot, cutting off his blood supply. It was a freak thing that sometimes happens, and unfortunately it did this time to us.
